20 years of Alexander Global Logistics – and a new chapter begins.
After more than a year of planning and construction, Alexander Global Logistics has officially opened its new state-of-the-art logistics hub in Bremerhaven.
The opening marks one of the largest investments in AGL's 20-year history and a major expansion of our logistics capabilities in Northern Germany. With an investment of approximately €20 million. The new facility adds 20,000 m² of modern warehouse space and a 13,000 m² heavy-duty container and reachstacker yard to our existing operations in Bremerhaven. And its opening could hardly have come at a more fitting time: 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Alexander Global Logistics.
Built around the needs of our customers
The decision to expand in Bremerhaven was driven by a simple objective: to create a logistics facility specifically designed around the requirements of pulp, paper and forest products and to give our customers greater control, flexibility and transparency throughout their supply chains.
Bremerhaven provides the ideal environment for this concept. Located in immediate proximity to one of Europe's major container ports and with a direct rail connection, the new facility combines port access, warehousing, container handling and inland transportation at a single logistics hub.
The warehouse itself has been designed for demanding industrial operations and sensitive forest products. The fully enclosed building protects cargo from weather exposure, while modern loading houses allow trucks to be loaded and unloaded through a protected interface. With a floor load capacity exceeding 10 tonnes per square metre, the warehouse is also prepared for exceptionally heavy and high-density cargo.
More than a warehouse
One of the most important elements of the new facility is located directly outside the building.
AGL has constructed a 13,000 m² reinforced heavy-duty yard designed for reachstacker and container operations. Allowing us to integrate container handling directly into our warehousing concept. Since containers can be shuttled from the port within the applicable free-time window, temporarily stored at our facility and positioned for unloading according to operational requirements. For our customers, this provides additional flexibility in managing container flows and can help reduce exposure to detention, demurrage and terminal storage costs. Instead of looking at port transport, container handling and warehousing as separate processes, the new facility allows AGL to manage them as one integrated logistics chain.
Built for modern logistics
Behind the physical infrastructure is an equally important digital layer.
The facility is fully integrated with AGL WEB, providing customers with digital visibility of inventory and warehouse movements and connecting the physical flow of goods with our digital logistics processes.
The warehouse also incorporates modern fire protection and sprinkler systems, high-performance loading infrastructure and automated cleaning equipment to maintain the high standards required for pulp and paper storage.
Sustainability has also been incorporated into the facility concept, including energy-efficient building technology and renewable energy solutions.
The result is not simply additional warehouse capacity, but a purpose-built platform for efficient, transparent and multimodal logistics.
From 7,000 piles to a fully operational logistics hub Those who followed our construction updates over the past year have seen just how much went into creating the new facility. Construction started with extensive ground improvement works, including more than 7,000 piles driven approximately 17 metres into the ground. From there came the first concrete columns, the roof and facade, the fire protection wall, technical installations, loading areas and finally the enormous heavy-duty yard. The project also had to contend with a particularly persistent North German winter, which temporarily transformed the construction site into a snow-covered landscape and brought work to a standstill. However, the structure took shape.
Today, the construction equipment has disappeared, the floors have been cleaned, the systems have been tested – and the warehouse is ready for its first cargo.
One opening. Two milestones
On 20 August 2026, we officially celebrated the inauguration of our new Bremerhaven logistics hub together with customers, partners, colleagues and friends, as well as celebrating 20 years of Alexander Global Logistics.
What began in 2006 has developed into an international logistics company with operations across Europe, North and South America, Asia and the Middle East, specializing in forest products, project logistics, ocean freight, air freight and multimodal transportation. Opening one of the most significant facilities in our company's history during our anniversary year therefore represents much more than the completion of a construction project.
It represents the next chapter of AGL.
